    Hi Will,

There's lots I like about your lair; particularly that honeycomb wall and all the opportunities that creates in terms of lighting. That said, I don't think you're actually exploiting the 'otherworldiness' of your Venusian setting - and that is true of a number of your decisions. So, in terms of that lighting spilling through the wall, its could be reds, oranges and purples - so much more theatrical and sexy? Likewise, the throne; it seems like it's been purchased from Habitat or IKEA, as opposed to made by alien hands? It doesn't seem hugely feminine either - or, to put it another way, the throne doesn't 'tell us' about its occupant - it's a bit generic for me. The candles - again, on this alien planet that also has orbiting magnetic technology - why the candles, why not hovering light orbs (for example). My general point is that you're not really pushing the Venusian element - the speculative, 'what if?' element. It seems to me there are opportunities here to have a whole lot more fun with the components of this scene, and right now, there's an odd separation between the elements - the sixties era chair with the high-tech orbiting 'object-belt', the candles... I just want you to pull your world together a bit more, and really use the Venusian setting to your advantage - likewise, in terms of that throne, it is your character's proxy in the scene, so are their ways to use it to evoke your sorceress more vividly? I even think the earth-bound 'brown' of the floor and rock is not helping you press the sci-fi button: ramp everything up a notch, Will - this is the stuff of space operas; for a bit of further inspiration, check out the 1968 movie Barbarella...
